Munster Rugby’s medic Dr Jamie Kearns has been fined €2,000 and handed a suspended three-week touchline ban arising out of an incident in the recent Saracens v Munster Heineken Champions Cup Round 4 game.

An independent Disciplinary Committee composed of Chairman, Simon Thomas (Wales), Jean-Noël Couraud (France) and Rhian Williams (Wales), convened in London under EPCR’s Disciplinary Rules to hear a misconduct complaint against Dr Kearns.

The independent panel found that during the match at Allianz Park on Saturday 14th December, Kearns verbally abused Saracens player, Jamie George, and that in doing so, breached the EPCR Disciplinary Rules.

The independent Disciplinary Committee took into account the immediate expression of remorse shown by Dr Kearns and handed him a three-week touchline ban, which will be suspended for a period of 12 months. Kearns has also been fined €2,000 as a result of the incident, with both the Munster Rugby doctor and EPCR having the right to appeal the decision.
