On Friday Ulster v Scarlets will take place at Kingspan Stadium in Belfast at 7.35pm. We have a preview of the Pro 14 meeting between the sides below. Furthermore, we will also look at team news and betting.
This will probably be a high scoring contest. Firstly, Dan McFarland’s charges are just one of five teams to have recorded 2 wins from 2 in the Champions Cup having beaten Bath and Clermont. Ulster recorded a 17-16 win over Bath at the Rec two weeks ago a game which was virtually decided by the man of the match John Cooney who went over for a try. Ulster recorded an 18-13 win over French Top 14 side Clermont last week and were full value for that win.
Scarlets have been in form and have only lost one match this season. That loss came against Toulon in the Challenge Cup last weekend when they out by just a single point 17-16. I expect them to put in a decent performance here.
Ulster Rugby reported on their website that Billy Burns will miss the game through a hamstring injury. In addition, Will Addison will miss out due to suspension. He is suspended for four weeks following a dangerous tackle against Clermont second row Paul Jedrasiak.
Ulster: Louis Ludik, Robert Baloucoune, Matt Faddes, Stuart McCloskey, Craig Gilroy, Bill Johnston, John Cooney. Eric O’Sullivan, Rob Herring (Capt.), Marty Moore, Alan O’Connor, Kieran Treadwell, Matthew Rea, Sean Reidy, Marcell Coetzee.
Scarlets: Steff Evans; Corey Baldwin, Steff Hughes (capt), Paul Asquith, Morgan Williams; Dan Jones, Kieran Hardy;Phil Price, Ryan Elias, Samson Lee, Lewis Rawlins, Sam Lousi, Uzair Cassiem, Josh Macleod, Blade Thomson.
Ulster are 1/9 favourites for this game. In comparison, the Scarlets are outsiders at odds of 5/1. Ulster -14 at odds of 10/11 looks the bet here on this occasion. Ulster v Scarlets promises to be an excellent encounter and is live on Premier Sports and S4C.
